CW Star Finds of the Week
By Alissa Henry, Cameron FontanaPosted Jan 16, 2013
This week is about branching out. We all have those go-to things that we’re comfortable with -- our favorite restaurant, favorite outfit, favorite parking spot, favorite song to listen to over and over and over again -- but we encourage you to join us in trying something completely out of the ordinary this week. And who knows? In doing so, you may find a new favorite thing.
FOOD: Growing up in Osaka, Japan, it’s no surprise that of all the food I love to eat, Japanese food has a very special place in my heart. So when I discovered Tensuke Express, I was in Nippon Heaven. This cozy cafe is all about being quick, cheap, and easy, offering everything from soba, gyoza, unadon combos and chicken karaage to one of my favorite foods ever, Takoyaki (dough balls with chunks of octopus). Their meals are delicious and the portions are very generous. You can even enjoy some Japanese TV while you eat! The best part...once you’re done, you can walk over to their fully-stocked supermarket and sushi bar connected right to the cafe. So if you’ve been searching for an authentic Japanese spot or a chance to expand your palate, Tensuke Express has it all.

FASHION: I’ve always loved men in bowties, but lately I’ve noticed a few women rocking them too! The trick for women is to pair this traditional men’s accessory with uniquely feminine attire like fitted button-up dress shirts, chambray shirts, sleek pencil skirts, collared dresses or sky high heels. I’m all about adding a little androgyny to an ultra-girly wardrobe, so I looked to “OneEleven” for a custom bowtie design. The founder, Kourtni Hatton, sews each bowtie by hand and though most of her clients are male -- and she created the line with men in mind -- Kourtni says women should feel free to don the decorative accessory as well. So, ladies, whether you go the handmade route, peruse the men’s section of a local store, or raid your boyfriend’s closet, bowties are the next trend you have to try.
