UWeekly's hiring

By Justin McIntosh

Published December 1, 2011

UWeekly might be done printing issues in 2011, but we're already looking for ahead to 2012. Basically: We're hiring.

In particular, we're looking for the following:

• News writer: Are you an aspiring journalist looking to make a name for yourself? Want to uncover OSU's next scandal (with a school this large, it's bound to happen again soon)? Interested in simply gaining some experience, while sharpening your writing skills? We can help with that. Pays $25 a story, maybe more depending on word length and depth of coverage.

• Music journalist: Are you hooked into Columbus' burgeoning music scene? Want to spread the good word about the latest band causing ripples of excitement among you and your friends? We're looking for someone who can not only do interviews and features on local bands, but also CD reviews, concert reviews and features on larger, touring acts coming to Columbus. Also pays $25 a story.

• OP-ED writer: Got an opinion? We all do, right? But are yours a little more controversial and argument starting? Do you have a keen sense of the way things should be on campus but aren't? We're looking for someone to rile things up at OSU with interesting, unique and, yes, controversial opinion pieces. Also pays $25 per story.

• Street Style/Fashion reporter: We're looking for someone to take over the Street Style piece and the Fashion Police feature. If you're interested in both, or one instead of the other, let us know. Also pays $25 per story.

Those interested should contact me at editor@uweekly.com. Please send along a cover letter telling me why you'd be a good choice, along with a resume, any writing samples you might have and a few story ideas you'd like to cover within the respective beat (as merited).
