Michael Amann says...

Nobody forget to hate Sarah Palin

By Michael Amman

Excuse me. Books...are like lobster shells, we surround ourselves with ’em, then we grow out of ’em and leave ’em...

I don't know what sort of politics UWeekly readers have. Over in the sports section, I stay clear of anything more controversial than calling for a playoff in the FBS/Div 1A football. I am going to maintain that the following column is not political; it's patriotic.

Right now, Sarah Palin might seem fairly benign and harmless, relegated to the status of political punch line. The extent of her historical legacy will probably be Larry Flint's Who's Nailin' Palin and a few "SNL" sketches. It may seem pointless and mean-spirited to tell a (relatively) large group of people to remember to leave hate in their heart for a public figure who currently has so little influence over their lives. However, there is a surprisingly large group of people who not only believe her to be a legitimate candidate for national office, but also truly believe her phony populist message and bumper-sticker ideology. It is because of these people that we must remain hatefully aware of her presence.

When I was home for Thanksgiving, I was somehow drafted to help the neighbors set up their Internet. I guess being a college student and spending too much time on the Internet pretty much makes me the default tech support in suburban Cincinnati. Anyway, it wasn't that hard to do, but I unfortunately was forced into conversation with the Man of the House.

Man of the House: "So, something something Election?"

Amann (playing it safe): Yup, people were elected.

MofH: So how about that Sarah Palin?

Amann (mentally): Goddammit!

MofH: She's one tough cookie.

Amann (lying to save face): I don't really ... know about this Sarah Palin.

MofH: People say a lot of things about her, but she's a smart girl.

Amann (mentally): What in the hell can I say to that?

MofH:(repeated for emphasis): You can tell she's a smart girl.

I don't remember what I said to that. It must not have been a disagreement, because I was actually paid handsomely for my services and not shot by the obligatory gun. It could not have been that I agreed with him, because I physically am unable to even fake an agreement to such a ridiculous statement. I might not have said anything, now that I think about it, or at least just mumbled some sounds that sounded as benign as I could on the subject.

Irrespective of what I may or may not have said, this incident -among others- awakened me to the shocking revelation that people actually liked Sarah Palin. That is weird to me, because I thought most people just bit their lip and ignored her by the time the election rolled around. Apparently not. Apparently a significant portion of this country thinks she's going to "shake things up" or "talk straight" or "walk hard" or something else out of a Dewey Cox song.

Some people might say it is because she is a woman that she gets a disproportionate amount of negative attention. Well, duh. Her womaness was the chief reason she was given the nomination. Her wrinkly, defective ovaries, combined with your everyday nut-job conservatism, were pretty much the only reasons Palin was offered the nomination. Everything else, like the idea of her being a reformer or at all a legitimate candidate for anything besides "Miss GILF Alaska", was made up as they went along. That is why she has gotten so much negative attention: Because she's a neo-con pin-up more qualified for pornography than the presidency.

Keep hating Sarah Palin. If you're a republican, democrat, swing voter, apathetic, homeless, Canadian or Todd Palin: hate for your country. Hate her recent interview with that dick Glenn Beck. Hate that she shoots wolves from planes. Hate that as a vice presidential candidate, it cost the Republican Party over $150,000 to clothe her. Hate that she wants rape victims (even victims of roommate rape!) to pay for their own rape kits. Hate the idea that people want her to run for President of the United States. Release your anger, America. Only your hate can destroy her.

  1. You are one dumb fucker that can’t even fix a computer let alone writing this stupid gibberish you call complete nonsense sentences... you are the epitome of stupidity - how’s that for hate - democrack

  2. Why are we still talking about Palin?! Leave the poor chic alone. Boring column.

    pn | 2009-01-20 - 06:35:49 PM (CDT)
  3. At least we have a leftwing nutjob admit that they actually hate people they disgree with, something everyone has known all along. Yes, this poor thing appears to be in the deep throes of Palin Derangement Syndrome. Shock treatments may not even be enough for this pathetic wretch. It’s interesting to note that every hateful person with access to a computer knows that if they write about Gov. Palin it will be picked up by Google Alerts, and people will actually read their garbage. This ranks near the top of the garbage heap. Keep hating you pathetic, boorish little man.

  4. keep it up makes us love her even more.It goes to show us that the left wing nuts are nothing but full of hate. Maybe go to church. They might teach you athing or two.

  5. Ms. Palin is simply not qualified to run this country.
Alaska has fewer than 1 million people in it, it’s different culturally than the lower 48, and is not a very cosmopolitan place. She didn’t even know Africa was a continent, not a country - that matters in politics people!!
Would I vote for some 2 term mayor of Portland, OR or Cincinnati to run this country? NO! Alaska’s a big place physically, but bureaucractically and culturally it’s a small city spread thin over the tundra. Besides, Palin will never get the centrist votes. She plays to the base (metaphorically as well). That’s as high as she will rise.

    Lindsay | 2009-01-20 - 07:34:31 PM (CDT)
  6. Thanks for talking about her. It does not matter if it is bad or good she still gets the exposure.Your hate only makes her and those of us with her stronger. So thank-you

  7. Those who disrespect Sarah Palin are only disrespecting themselves. If there were a compilation (and there may be somewhere) of all the unprecedented vitriolic slander directed at this absolutely charming intelligent and RESPECTFUL woman, it would deserve a place of honor in a Hall Of Shame.

  10. You hate her because you ARE afraid of her! She got many followers because she is a real deal! It is time to get a life and start loving people and not hating, especially people you do not know at all. Sarah 2012!

    Margot | 2009-01-20 - 07:46:43 PM (CDT)
  11. You are really desperate for attention to write such a stupid trash. The more people fear Gov Palin, the more they smear her. Grow up and get a life.

  12. You’re right. We should stop discussing incompetence. It’s depressing.
    OBAMA!!!!
What a wonderful, worldly, kind man.
    Educated, humble, and articulate.
A diplomat, a good parent, and faithful husband.
    OBAMA!!!!
    OBAMA!!!
    OBAMA!!!
8 years of relative wonderfulness lies ahead.

  13. You my friend are an idiot. Our country is tired of the nut jobs like you. I am not sure if you were dropped when you were younger but you need help. You are clearly mentally unstable.

Keep on hating...That’s what the left does best while claiming to be the "tolerable ones"

  14. This must be the new politics the Messiah promised us right?

Your ability to see and understand other points of view is positivley Bushesque.

  15. Hate is a four-lettered word that is more disgusting than all the others combined,

    SMITH | 2009-01-20 - 08:13:11 PM (CDT)
  16. Wow, as usual, stupid liberals never let me down.

You losers preach love and tolerance, and yet, wouldn’t know it if it bit you in the arse!

Oh, and even better, the lies!

The bullshit about rape victims being charged for rape kits has been debunked 9 ways to Sunday.

She didn’t buy the wardrobe, or ask for it. Blame an overzealous friend of Norm Coleman for that one.
    .
Of course, you are worried about $150,000 for clothes that were mostly unworn, and returned, and yet, this empty suit... never done a goddamn thing in his life.... Chicago thug.... "community organizer".... just spent ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS for a goddamn parade!

That’s FOUR TIMES what President Bush spent on his second inaugural in 2005, and our economy was soaring then!

Thanks to stupid democrats, it’s in the shitter now!

    You twit!

As far as the wolves, you damned right they shoot them!

Governor Palin doesn’t shoot them herself, but its not like she couldn’t! She’s an avid hunter, and has taken military training on many weapons.

What you silly little liberals don’t understand about predator control is if you don’t kill them, they would destroy pretty much all of the wild game in the state.

The aerial shooting is a last resort effort though.

You see, unlike you, who goes down to McDonald’s, or has your mama make your food, Native Alaskans depend on wild game to survive. Unchecked, 10’s of 1000’s of humans would starve to death, not to mention the herds themselves would be wiped out.

I suggest that between your late night sessions of self love (I’m sure you aren’t getting any) and wallowing in hate and stupidity, you find a goddamn book on wildlife management!

Governor Palin is actually praised for her management by professions, who actually know what the f*ck they are doing!

Frankly though, thanks for mentioning the Governor. Nobody loves reading about her more than I do, and no one loves setting little turd rolling liberal losers straight more than I do!

Just remember, the more you write drivel like this, the more people come to her side!

    So again, thanks!

    Now kindly go f*ck yourself!

    Watch out Haters!.......Sarah IS COMING!!!!!

  18. Yup, Palin is the future. I like that she dont know much bout the werld. I like that she pretty. My preacher told me evolution was a lie, and palin thinks the same! Go God Go Palin, Go Republicans! We are what make this county great. She is just like me, and I think I can run this country better than most, so she would probably do even better. Screw you uppity liberals, you think education and intellectual curiosity make you so smart.

    PALIN FAN | 2009-01-20 - 08:19:38 PM (CDT)
  19. i also like that she reads anything that is in front of her. I do the same: ingredients on boxes, traffic signs, tv guide, national enquirer etc. She knows more about the world then most of you big city liberals. Go real america!

    PALIN FAN | 2009-01-20 - 08:24:08 PM (CDT)
  20. Well at least this liberal author is honest enough to expose the liberal mind, which is full of hate. I know that’s how they really are, but to see such depravity displayed so openly is scary. I think Obamamnation has officially begun. God help us. As the O tell us "everyone must sacrifice" we have just witness the most extravagant inaugral ceremonies exceeding 150 million dollars. I do not think a lot of people on main street will look back to appreciate this as their promises
of health care and prosperity will remained unfilled in the coming years. The country will be ready for a real leader in 4 years, one with experience in managing difficult situations, like Alaska’s problems. If Governor Palin can run Alaska, she can run America.

    NormaJ | 2009-01-20 - 08:28:21 PM (CDT)
  21. And you hate her why? You haven’t given any reasons for hating her. All yo have done is insult her looks and rumors that were proven to be wrong. How can you hate her when you obviously don’t even understand the issues or have the facts straight? I think you are jealous of her or fear her, but you don’t hate her.

Hey Sarah, can we go aerial hunting for stupid, uneducated liberals! Please?

    Gina | 2009-01-20 - 08:29:17 PM (CDT)
  22. There is no future with Sarah Palin - The public has figured out that the last thing you want anywhere near the white house after GW is another SLACK JAWED YOKEL. The woman is a virtual bastion of idiocy. She has a daughter that has a child out of wedlock. Ever heard the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree?? We don’t need some hamheaded caribou barbie dumbass smiling like an idiot and telling everyone "You betcha!". Hockey moms are good at being hockey moms...not vice presidents...this is obviously clear with the trouble she got into as governor. Only to be cleared by people SHE appointed. You people who are all about Sarah Palin...YOU LOST...deal with it...she will most likely go back to that frozen iceberg called Alaska and spend her remaining years in obscurity.

    Royster of Nevada | 2009-01-20 - 08:30:10 PM (CDT)
  23. Hey, Royster, I guess you "dealt with it" in Y2000 and Y2004. In 4 yours you will need to deal with it again.
I got an idea what you think about Bush who kept our country safe for 7 years - just be thankful for this if you have any common sense.
As for Sarah, trust me, she can relate to much more people than an elitist snob.

    Margot | 2009-01-20 - 08:42:28 PM (CDT)
  24. Too bad all liberals don’t practice what they preach.....there would be so few of them around!!

  26. This idiot is a good example of racism, sexist and a liberal nut job. The more you hate her the more people love her. Guess you didn’t hear your president today. Have to stand behind a computer because you are not man enough to say it to Gov. Palins face.

    *****************************************************************

Alaska has more people than Joe Biden’s state. and yet, that guy is somehow qualified?

You like every liberal I have ever met are educated well beyond the limits of your intelligence.

Sarah Palin is the GOVERNOR of Alaska, not some mayor. Or lowly US Senator.

Since you’re younger, you don’t have a good historical frame of reference from which to draw on. This is why learning history is important, no matter how boring it can be!

Governor Palin NOW, has more experience as a chief executive, than Bill Clinton did when he walked into the White House for the first time in 1993.

For one, her state budget is a little over three times that of Bill Clinton’s Arkansas.

And Arkansas doesn’t have much foreign trade. Alaska is a huge exporter, and Governor Palin has worked on many foreign trade deals.

She absolutely has more experience than Mr Obama does, a hell of a lot more. Let me clue you in on some facts.

Governor Plain has the highest popularity of any Governor in America. She is a recognized authority on energy issues, having run the largest oil and gas regulator agency of it’s kind.

She is also a tough reformer that when push came to shove, took down the entire leadership of the Alaskan Republican party, INCLUDING the sitting Republican Governor!

Too bad Mr Obama hasn’t taken lessons from HER! He’s averaging about two scandals out of his hometown a day, right? How about all of those corrupt cabinet picks?

Hillary’s the only one who should be confirmed. Never thought I’d say THAT!

Everyone knows that Governor Palin started out as a PTA mom. Typical story. She just wanted to take an active role in her kid’s education. At some point, she was convinced to run for a city council seat, which she did, and won. Then, Sarah ran for, and became Mayor of Wasilla. After two terms, she was term limited out. (something the US Congress needs, badly)

Governor Palin then made a run at Lt Governor, but lost. She was then selected as Chairman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission. The AOGCC is the largest regulatory body of it’s kind in the nation. It regulates oil and natural gas production. handles leasing issues, environmental issues, and the like.

Governor Palin took a keen interest in ethics. Lots of issues both in the business, and her agency. It’s a well known fact she cleaned house. But she also stood toe to toe with top executives from Exxon-Mobil, Conoco-Phillips, and BP. She helped change the relationship between the companies, and the state, for the better.

Kay Cashman’s book: "Sarah Takes On Big Oil" is a must read. It tells you all about it. You can read some of it at www.petroleumnews.com

Inside the commission, there were issues as well. A quick trip to Wikipedia will give you more details, but both the Chairman of the Republican party, as well as the former Republican Attorney General were involved in some questionable deals.

Both were forced to resign, not only from the commission, but from the party. The Chairman was hit with the largest fine of it’s kind, in the state’s history.

Sarah Became Governor by taking down Murkowski by a landslide in the primary, and beating a former democrat Governor in the general election, also by a wide margin.

In addition to being Governor, Palin serves as Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a multi-state government agency that promotes the conservation and efficient recovery of domestic oil and natural gas resources while protecting health, safety and the environment.

Governor Palin is also the Chairman of the National Governors Association’s Natural Resources Committee. Voted in by the other 49 Governors.

Something else that people overlook, and this is key: Governor Palin is Commander-in-Chief of the only National Guard that is on permanent deployment.

The 176th Wing, of the Alaska Air National Guard train with and is part of the United States Air Force. They are vital to our air defenses, and are the first line of defense should Russia, North Korea, or China decide they want to become aggressive.

Recently, the 176th Wing was awarded for it’s actions. It escorted 22 Russian Bear bombers out of US airspace. I’m sure you’ve read that Russia is flying the Bear again, and seeing what they can get away with. The award was for much more tough.

    http://www.176wg.ang.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123091720

The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It’s on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units.

As governor of Alaska, Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counterterrorism.

As Governor Palin’s position as CIC is rather unique, she has a rather high national security clearance as well. Something neither Obama nor Biden had prior to their win.

She’s also the Commander-In-Chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security’s counterterrorism plans.

Sarah Palin was the only candidate running in the general election that had any sort of executive experience. She’s the only one who had ever had to sit and make hard decisions. To actually run a state, balance a budget, deal with ethics issues, and so forth.

Governor Palin also has extensive foreign trade experience. Governors, that have something to export, routinely meet with foreign heads of state and work on extensive trade agreements. Again, something Obama and Biden have zero experience at.

Governor Palin just hosted a delegation from nations that are direct trading partners with Alaska, including Sergey Kislyak is the newly appointed ambassador of the Russian Federation to the United States, who said:

“I am so pleased to be here this weekend. “As discussed in my meeting with Governor Palin, it is encouraging to note the similarities between Alaska and the Russian Far East. Our EXISTING commercial connections and the mutually beneficial nature of our professional partnerships can only help provide a measure of stability as, together, we face the global economic challenges that lie ahead”

Also at the meeting were Consuls General from the Russian Federation, United Kingdom, New Zealand, Hungary, Norway, South Korea, The Philippines, as well as representatives from Canada and China.

"Members of the Alaska consular corps also participated, including: Karen Matthias, of Canada; Hideo Fujita, of Japan; Hee-chul Kim, of South Korea; and Jose Luis Cuevas, of Mexico. They were joined by honorary consuls of the Czech Republic, Poland, Finland, Seychelles, and Norway"

Now, this is what Governors, who are the CEOs of their state, do on a fairly regular basis.

In fact, in this one meeting alone, Governor Palin did more actual foreign trade policy work than Barrack Obama has done in his entire life!

Governor Palin just signed the license to build the TransCanada natural gas pipeline. Something Alaska has been trying to do for 50 years.

She went in, cleaned up the process and got it done. This is the largest infrastructure project in history.

I would think college students would love this, because environmentalists do.

Alaska is sitting on 400 TRILLION cubic feet of natural gas. That is more than all of the world’s oil reserves!

And natural gas is the cleanest burning fuel there is. It’s almost zero emissions.

Even better, every major car manufacturer makes cars that burn compressed natural gas, and have for decades.

There are millions of trucks, cars, and buses in use daily.

While every other politician TALKS a good game, Governor Palin just put the wheels in motion to make the United States completely energy independent, as well as clean and green!

Just last week, Governor Palin announced that Alaska will not only meet the plan Mr Obama has for renewable energy, she will DOUBLE it!

Obama wants to see America get 25 percent of it’s energy from renewable resources. well, Alaska already gets 25 percent of it’s energy from renewables! So, she has pledged to have Alaska get 50 percent of it’s energy from renewables by 2025.

Governor Palin is Ronald Reagan in a skirt. She came from a middle class background, and knows what Americans face on a daily basis.

She and her husband, Todd still own a small commercial fishing business. The season is quite short. But as time permits, you’ll see her out there working the nets with the men. She’ll bring in those big fish with the best of them.

Once, she even refused to take it easy after she broke her wrist!

She knows exactly what hard work looks like, and isn’t afraid to take refresher courses from time to time!

Now this is just a small example of what Palin is about.

Remember, the man that liberals elected into office has never run a city, never run a state, never run a hot dog stand.

That doesn’t exactly instill tons of confidence.

Handing Mr Obama the keys to the White House would be like taking the kid you hired to sweep the floors at McDonald’s, and after a few weeks, making him the store manager!

While I wish the man well, and would NEVER root against America, I don’t see anything inspiring from this guy. Just not excited about a communist trying to do things that have failed everywhere they have ever been tried.

I thank God that Sarah Palin is warming up in the bullpen!

Mr Obama is channeling FDR and Jimmy Carter in his plans. You look those two up in the dictionary, and they’ll come under epic failure!

But Carter gave us 8 glorious years of Reagan. Mr Obama should give us 8 glorious years of Palin! I see her winning 49 state blowouts like Reagan did.

Why? because everything the lefties said about Reagan in his day, they say about Sarah Palin now! I mean they use many of the same words!

    Liberals never learn.

    Gary | 2009-01-20 - 09:11:25 PM (CDT)
  28. Wow, you Palin fans are a great reason to practice family planning. We’ll see if Alaska actually re-elects this fool; I doubt it. Folks in the little villages, you know: the ones Sarah called real Americans? Well, they’re up there in -30 degrees with the choice of food or fuel in front of them, and Sarah can’t be bothered at all. If you want to return to those kind of politics that were firmly repudiated today, then I pray that your children tie you to someof the few ice floes left and float you out to sea

BWAAAAAAA!!!!! Wake up people. You will be paying for this selection with your hard earned dollars for the next 4 years!! By the way, where is O’biteme’s birth certificate?

  31. What kind of hate are they teaching in college these days. Your anger toward another human being is truely disturbing. If you call that kind of hate "Patriotic" than this country is surely headed in the wrong direction. I will suppose you are a liberal Democrat based on your comments. I always thought you were the caring, accepting, open minded, compassionate party. I really hope you liberals keep spewing your hate for all the world to see. Expose yourselves for who you truely are. Keep it up and see the fruits of your labor. Your worst fears will become a self fulfilling prophecy

  32. Sorry that I even bothered to read this illiterate diatribe. I really feel sorry for you that you allow yourself to waste your time on such meaningless words. "What you say speaks so loudly that I can’t hear a word that you are saying." (Quote from Abraham Lincoln)

  33. Gov. Palin has accomplished more in her political career than Obama has dreamed about. She comes up with new ideas and gets the job done. Obama is rehashing old ideas that have been proven to fail. And the author of this piece is a real hate filled, narrow minded, kool-aid drinking ignoramus!

    MeMeMe | 2009-01-20 - 10:58:53 PM (CDT)
  34. This article is really sad.Our youth is so impressionable and easily mislead. I guess that’s why they vote liberal.
This is a classsical example of such ignorance. I hope these misguided souls will become more responsible and informed as they mature. Statistics show this is what happens, but I’m sure some remain ignorant forever. They become the Nancy Pelosis’, Harry Reids and Ayers of the world, and continue to spread their political decay known as liberalism.

  35. Straight from the pen of yet another stand-for-nothing and fall-for-anything liberal. You have not seen, nor heard, the last of Sarah Palin. Your are right about one thing: There are plenty of people who love Sarah Palin and there will be even more four years from now. I suggest you get used to it!

    Cheri | 2009-01-20 - 11:10:14 PM (CDT)
  36. Sara Palin couldn’t make a cheese sandwich if you spotted her the Pumpernickel and Provolone. She can’t complete sentences, she can’t raise a family and she certainly can’t govern - as evidence by her complete screw ups wherever she’s been. They even had to bring in a City Manager to Wassilla to clean up the messes she made - and they are still not done fixing all of the damage she did to that poor inlet.

    Miss Vicky | 2009-01-20 - 11:15:18 PM (CDT)
  37. Palin-lovers please read this and then explain why you think she is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

    4 sep 08

I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992.
Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a
first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her
father was my child’s favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a
first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more
City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the
    residents of the city.

She is enormously popular; in every way she’s like the most popular
girl in middle school. Even men who think she is a poor choice and
won’t vote for her can’t quit smiling when talking about her because
    she is a “babe”.

It is astonishing and almost scary how well she can keep a secret. She
kept her most recent pregnancy a secret from her children and parents
    for seven months.

She is “pro-life”. She recently gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby.
There is no cover-up involved, here; Trig is her baby.

She is energetic and hardworking. She regularly worked out at the gym.

She is savvy. She doesn’t take positions; she just “puts things out
there” and if they prove to be popular, then she takes credit.

Her husband works a union job on the North Slope for BP and is a
champion snowmobile racer. Todd Palin’s kind of job is highly
sought-after because of the schedule and high pay. He arranges his
work schedule so he can fish for salmon in Bristol Bay for a month or
so in summer, but by no stretch of the imagination is fishing their
major source of income. Nor has her life-style ever been anything
    like that of native Alaskans.

Sarah and her whole family are avid hunters.

    She’s smart.

Her experience is as mayor of a city with a population of about 5,000
(at the time), and less than 2 years as governor of a state with about
    670,000 residents.

During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running
this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been
pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had
gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had
given rise to a recall campaign.

Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6
years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over
33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the
City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation
(1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a
regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she
promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they
    benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration
weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed
money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it
with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage
the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said
she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a
new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a
multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece
of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was
still in litigation 7 yrs later–to the delight of the lawyers
involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the
community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it
would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that
could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.

While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office
    redecorated more than once.

These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city.

As an oil producer, the high price of oil has created a budget surplus
in Alaska. Rather than invest this surplus in technology that will
make us energy independent and increase efficiency, as Governor she
proposed distribution of this surplus to every individual in the state.

In this time of record state revenues and budget surpluses, she
recommended that the state borrow/bond for road projects, even while
she proposed distribution of surplus state revenues: spend today’s
    surplus, borrow for needs.

She’s not very tolerant of divergent opinions or open to outside ideas
or compromise. As Mayor, she fought ideas that weren’t generated by
her or her staff. Ideas weren’t evaluated on their merits, but on the
    basis of who proposed them.

While Sarah was Mayor of Wasilla she tried to fire our highly respected
City Librarian because the Librarian refused to consider removing from
the library some books that Sarah wanted removed. City residents
rallied to the defense of the City Librarian and against Palin’s
attempt at out-and-out censorship, so Palin backed down and withdrew
her termination letter. People who fought her attempt to oust the
Librarian are on her enemies list to this day.

Sarah complained about the “old boy’s club” when she first ran for
Mayor, so what did she bring Wasilla? A new set of “old boys”. Palin
fired most of the experienced staff she inherited. At the City and as
Governor she hired or elevated new, inexperienced, obscure people,
creating a staff totally dependent on her for their jobs and eternally
grateful and fiercely loyal–loyal to the point of abusing their power
to further her personal agenda, as she has acknowledged happened in the
case of pressuring the State’s top cop (see below).

As Mayor, Sarah fired Wasilla’s Police Chief because he “intimidated”
her, she told the press. As Governor, her recent firing of Alaska’s top
cop has the ring of familiarity about it. He served at her pleasure
and she had every legal right to fire him, but it’s pretty clear that
an important factor in her decision to fire him was because he wouldn’t
fire her sister’s ex-husband, a State Trooper. Under investigation
for abuse of power, she has had to admit that more than 2 dozen
contacts were made between her staff and family to the person that she
later fired, pressuring him to fire her ex-brother-in-law. She tried to
replace the man she fired with a man who she knew had been reprimanded
for sexual harassment; when this caused a public furor, she withdrew
    her support.

She has bitten the hand of every person who extended theirs to her in
help. The City Council person who personally escorted her around town
introducing her to voters when she first ran for Wasilla City Council
became one of her first targets when she was later elected Mayor. She
abruptly fired her loyal City Administrator; even people who didn’t
like the guy were stunned by this ruthlessness.

Fear of retribution has kept all of these people from saying anything
    publicly about her.

When then-Governor Murkowski was handing out political plums, Sarah got
the best, Chair of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission: one
of the few jobs not in Juneau and one of the best paid. She had no
background in oil & gas issues. Within months of scoring this great
job which paid $122,400/yr, she was complaining in the press about the
high salary. I was told that she hated that job: the commute, the
structured hours, the work. Sarah became aware that a member of this
Commission (who was also the State Chair of the Republican Party)
engaged in unethical behavior on the job. In a gutsy move which some
undoubtedly cautioned her could be political suicide, Sarah solved all
her problems in one fell swoop: got out of the job she hated and
garnered gobs of media attention as the patron saint of ethics and as a
gutsy fighter against the “old boys’ club” when she dramatically quit,
exposing this man’s ethics violations (for which he was fined).

As Mayor, she had her hand stuck out as far as anyone for pork from
Senator Ted Stevens. Lately, she has castigated his pork-barrel
politics and publicly humiliated him. She only opposed the “bridge to
nowhere” after it became clear that it would be unwise not to.

As Governor, she gave the Legislature no direction and budget
guidelines, then made a big grandstand display of line-item vetoing
projects, calling them pork. Public outcry and further legislative
action restored most of these projects–which had been vetoed simply
because she was not aware of their importance–but with the unobservant
she had gained a reputation as “anti-pork”.

She is solidly Republican: no political maverick. The State party
leaders hate her because she has bit them in the back and humiliated
them. Other members of the party object to her self-description as a
    fiscal conservative.

Around Wasilla there are people who went to high school with Sarah.
They call her “Sarah Barracuda” because of her unbridled ambition and
predatory ruthlessness. Before she became so powerful, very ugly
stories circulated around town about shenanigans she pulled to be made
point guard on the high school basketball team. When Sarah’s
mother-in-law, a highly respected member of the community and
experienced manager, ran for Mayor, Sarah refused to endorse her.

As Governor, she stepped outside of the box and put together of package
of legislation known as “AGIA” that forced the oil companies to march
to the beat of her drum.

Like most Alaskans, she favors drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge. She has questioned if the loss of sea ice is linked to
global warming. She campaigned “as a private citizen” against a state
initiaitive that would have either a) protected salmon streams from
pollution from mines, or b) tied up in the courts all mining in the
state (depending on who you listen to). She has pushed the State’s
lawsuit against the Dept. of the Interior’s decision to list polar
    bears as threatened species.

McCain is the oldest person to ever run for President; Sarah will be a
    heartbeat away from being President.

There has to be literally millions of Americans who are more
    knowledgeable and experienced than she.

However, there’s a lot of people who have underestimated her and are
    regretting it.

    CLAIM VS FACT
•“Hockey mom”: true for a few years
•“PTA mom”: true years ago when her first-born was in elementary
    school, not since
    •“NRA supporter”: absolutely true
•social conservative: mixed. Opposes gay marriage, BUT vetoed a bill
that would have denied benefits to employees in same-sex relationships
(said she did this because it was unconsitutional).
•pro-creationism: mixed. Supports it, BUT did nothing as Governor to
    promote it.
•“Pro-life”: mixed. Knowingly gave birth to a Down’s syndrome baby
BUT declined to call a special legislative session on some pro-life
    legislation
•“Experienced”: Some high schools have more students than Wasilla has
residents. Many cities have more residents than the state of Alaska.
No legislative experience other than City Council. Little hands-on
supervisory or managerial experience; needed help of a city
administrator to run town of about 5,000.
    •political maverick: not at all
    •gutsy: absolutely!
•open & transparent: ??? Good at keeping secrets. Not good at
    explaining actions.
•has a developed philosophy of public policy: no
•”a Greenie”: no. Turned Wasilla into a wasteland of big box stores
and disconnected parking lots. Is pro-drilling off-shore and in ANWR.
•fiscal conservative: not by my definition!
•pro-infrastructure: No. Promoted a sports complex and park in a city
without a sewage treatment plant or storm drainage system. Built
streets to early 20th century standards.
•pro-tax relief: Lowered taxes for businesses, increased tax burden on
    residents
•pro-small government: No. Oversaw greatest expansion of city
    government in Wasilla’s history.
•pro-labor/pro-union. No. Just because her husband works union
doesn’t make her pro-labor. I have seen nothing to support any claim
    that she is pro-labor/pro-union.

    WHY AM I WRITING THIS?

First, I have long believed in the importance of being an informed
voter. I am a voter registrar. For 10 years I put on student voting
programs in the schools. If you google my name (Anne Kilkenny +
Alaska), you will find references to my participation in local
    government, education, and PTA/parent organizations.

Secondly, I’ve always operated in the belief that “Bad things happen
when good people stay silent”. Few people know as much as I do because
few have gone to as many City Council meetings.

Third, I am just a housewife. I don’t have a job she can bump me out
of. I don’t belong to any organization that she can hurt. But, I am no
fool; she is immensely popular here, and it is likely that this will
cost me somehow in the future: that’s life.

Fourth, she has hated me since back in 1996, when I was one of the 100
or so people who rallied to support the City Librarian against Sarah’s
    attempt at censorship.

Fifth, I looked around and realized that everybody else was afraid to
say anything because they were somehow vulnerable.

    CAVEATS
I am not a statistician. I developed the numbers for the increase in
spending & taxation 2 years ago (when Palin was running for Governor)
from information supplied to me by the Finance Director of the City of
Wasilla, and I can’t recall exactly what I adjusted for: did I adjust
for inflation? for population increases? Right now, it is impossible
for a private person to get any info out of City Hall–they are
swamped. So I can’t verify my numbers.

You may have noticed that there are various numbers circulating for the
population of Wasilla, ranging from my “about 5,000″, up to 9,000. The
day Palin’s selection was announced a city official told me that the
current population is about 7,000. The official 2000 census count was
5,460. I have used about 5,000 because Palin was Mayor from 1996 to
2002, and the city was growing rapidly in the mid-90’s.

Just look at the whole Blagojavich thing and that what Obama’s whole career has been from the very beginning. Congratulations America, you just spread corrupt Chicago politics Nationwide!

  43. Unfortunately and truthfully, Rich and Michael Amann are prime examples of severe mental illness. The Anne Kilkenny rants are actually false and were disproved shortly after Sarah Palin became the first woman Vice Presidential candidate in the history of the Republican Party. Sarah Palin is a Great Woman!! The Kilkenny rants are nuetalized and do not have any affect on anyone because everyone knows they are not true.

Rich and Michael Amann are prime examples of the type of severly disturbed criminals you would see on CSI.

Gary - Your description of Sarah’s resume speaks for
itself. It is an example of someone who truely is
a representative of the good in this world.

One thing is for sure. When anything gets too far off balance, God’s hand comes in and swings the pendulum to the other side. Obama’s ego is so over-bloated from the hype that has been created by the left-wing media and entertainers that something will crash that down to earth. When God’s hand comes down on Obama, not even all of the left wing media and all of the entertainment world will be able to put Humpty-Obama back together again.

Michael Amann, you truely do display the typical insanity of the liberal-democrat mindset. You are actually showing us the mind of Obama and his adminstration. That is scary!

America will need alot of prayer during his term.

  44. You and the Left have good reason to fear Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. She is entrusted with our nation security, she is routinely briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security and counter terrorism. During the campaign she had a higher classified security rating than either Obama or Biden. She is the Commander In Chief of the 49th Missle Defense Batalion. This Batalion is on permanent active duty and they are the first line of defense that protects the entire United States.
Even the Huffington Post recognized that she had what it took in experience to be President. And I quote "Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her time in office that she is ready to be President" You need to get the facts before you write an article like this. You are right! You have reason to be afraid of her because she is coming back into the battle and she is returning with an army of supporters.

Thank you for giving me a chance to set her record straight and kindly get your mind out of the gutter regarding women.

  45. Lindsay said: "Ms. Palin is simply not qualified to run this country.
Alaska has fewer than 1 million people in it, it’s different culturally than the lower 48, and is not a very cosmopolitan place. She didn’t even know Africa was a continent, not a country - that matters in politics people!!"
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You must be from Chicago and a product of the B. Hussein Obama / Bill Ayers / Annenberg Project that has been utterly failing American school children in the classroom for years.

I only say that because it patently obvious that you are uneducated beyond belief.

The 2006 U.S. Census Bureau put Delaware’s population at 853,476 while putting Alaska’s population at 670,073. The largest city in Delaware is Wilmington with 73,000 people, whereas the largest city in Alaska is Anchorage with 278,700 people. And since BOTH states populations are fewer than 1 million people, and going by your logic, then Joe (Stand Up Chuck!!) Biden must also be unqualified to be VP.

And speaking of cosmopolitan, there is the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra along with many other visual and performing arts. Also important to note, there are 46 different countries from around the globe that fly into and out of the Anchorage International Airport, countries such as Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Canada and Germany to name just a few. Alaska is a popular destination for our foreign friends that do business in the oil and gas field, commercial fishing, and mineral development. And just like Americans from the lower 48, thousands of foreign tourists come to Alaska to see its scenic wonder and majesty.

And speaking of foreign visitors, on January 3, 2009, Governor Palin welcomed and hosted an international delegation of diplomats from Asia and many other European Countries to celebrate Alaska’s 50th anniversary. So it strains credulity to think that Wilmington, Delaware could be anymore cosmopolitan than say Anchorage Alaska.

As far as her not knowing Africa is a continent…that is not true. This story came from a Martin Eisenstadt, a McCain policy advisor. Trouble is Martin Eisenstadt doesn’t exist, his Blog does…but it’s a put on. The think tank where he is the senior fellow – the Harding Institute for Freedom and Democracy – is just a Web site. The TV clips are also phony.

Also Steve Biegun (a real person), and former Bush NSC aid who briefed Governor Palin on foreign policy, considered the leaks against her on the international stuff “absurd”. According to Mr. Biegun, there was no way she didn’t know Africa was a continent. He talked to her about all manner of issues relating to Africa, from failed states to the Sudan. Also Mr. Biegun said that she was particularly aware from the beginning of the conflict in Darfur, which is followed closely in evangelical churches, and was aware of the Clinton AIDS initiative. And that basically makes it impossible that she ever thought for a moment that all of Africa was a country.

It is also noteworthy that Mr. Biegun, former Bush NSC aid, also said of Governor Palin “she has great instincts and core values” and is “an instinctive internationalist”.

One last thing, the liberal pundit Camille Paglia of Salon.Com apparently admires Governor Palin. Here is what Paglia said in her latest column:

“As I have repeatedly said in this column, I have never had the slightest problem in understanding Sarah Palin’s meaning at any time. On the contrary, I have positively enjoyed her fresh, natural, rapid delivery with its syncopated stops and slides -- a fabulous example of which was the way (in her recent interview with John Ziegler) that she used a soft, swooping satiric undertone to zing Katie Couric’s dippy narcissism and to assert her own outrage as a "mama grizzly" at libels against her family” and “is a self-made woman of concrete achievement in the public realm”

As far as Governor Palin’s impeccable resume, Gary’s comment up above will suffice.

Umm….not to bad for the “un-cosmopolitan” Governor.

  54. "Hate that she shoots wolves from planes." - Correction: SHE doesn’t shoot wolves from planes personally. She was reluctant to agree with the hunting and game board who proposed the aerial hunting of wolves. But, it is utilized in order to maintain and increase the Caribou population of Alaska, which were viciously being killed by wolves, along with their young. Since implementing the aerial hunting of wolves (which isn’t done frquently - if hardly at all) the Caribou population has increased significantly with a ratio of 100:1.

"Hate that as a vice presidential candidate, it cost the Republican Party over $150,000 to clothe her." - Correction: The McCain campaign decided to clothe her and spend that money. This argument has been corrected many times. Palin is not wealthy, actually she shops at a second hand store called "Out of the Closet", had they not clothed her, the reporters would of defined her as "tacky" or something crazy, it’s a lose-lose situation with the media. Anyhow, the clothing has since been either returned or donated to charity and everything has been accounted for. 2 questions: Why do you care? Did you donate to the McCain campaign? Didn’t think so. I did, and would do it again in an instant, even knowing it might pay for Palin’s clothing for the campaign. Second, why not question the $150 million spent on Obama’s inauguration...if you wanted to get all technical.

"Hate that she wants rape victims (even victims of roommate rape!) to pay for their own rape kits." - Correction: She did not implement this "law", neither did she have control of it. This was created by a previous Governor and the rape rate is so low in Alaska, it could have easily gone unnoticed. Besides this "rape kit" thing has been twisted around several times and spun into some huge lie.

Anyhow, get a life, stop spewing hatred and lies, and maybe do something, uh, productive?

Folks in the little villages, you know: the ones Sarah called real Americans? Well, they’re up there in -30 degrees with the choice of food or fuel in front of them, and Sarah can’t be bothered at all. If you want to return to those kind of politics that were firmly repudiated today, then I pray that your children tie you to someof the few ice floes left and float you out to sea

Long on hate, totally absent of facts. But, that’s a common affliction for haters and losers.

Alaska is a harsh place to live, no doubt. Lots of remote villages are tough to get to in the summer. Alaska’s cold winters make it almost impossible.

As in farming, sometimes fishing seasons aren’t that great. The last one was one of those.

Governor Palin is doing a lot. One of the big problems is Alaskan law. As stupid as it sounds, the conditions as bad as the are, don’t fit the requirements of what Alaska calls an emergency situation.

Now, if you don’t realize it, Palin doesn’t make the laws. She can only enforce them.

So there is an emergency effort under the way to fix this, so the state can legally do something.

    Meanwhile, many groups are helping.

One of the main things that hurt these folks, is they have to have their heating oil shipped in by barge. They all bought this years supply when oil prices, thanks to democrats who hate every form of energy, were through the roof!

But if you think Palin and her people aren’t doing anything, well you are quite silly.

I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992.

    **********************************************************************

Rich.....I knew you were full of it once I started reading this. But when I found you just copied some other poor fools post, I REALLY knew you were full of it.

I’m not going to take time to refute you entire post, because it’s all bullshit. PERIOD.

But let me hit some highlights.

For one, Palin NEVER tried to ban books. Just a liberal smear job.

To tell you how absurd this is, there was, at one time, a list floating around that included books that, at the time Sarah was Mayor of Wasilla, HADN’T EVEN BEEN WRITTEN YET!

As far as the "debt" Sarah left Wasilla. Again, extremely short on facts!

The city’s residents ASKED FOR AND VOTED TO build a brand new 16 million dollar multi-use indoor sports complex and convention center.

Now Ask your parents how they bought THEIR home. They went into debt! That’s how things work!

The rest of your long post is such utter bullshit it doesn’t deserve a response. I mean come on, you didn’t get anything right.

Up until her run for VP Palin had a 90 percent approval rating in Alaska. It’s still around 70 percent, even with all of the out and out lies the media and libtards have told about her.

For those that actually care to refute this bullshit here are two GREAT sites that refute Rich’s ENTIRE POST!

    http://explorations.chasrmartin.com/2008/09/06/palin-rumors/

    http://chrisofrights.blogspot.com/2008/09/vetting-sarah-palin.html

Again, smart people will go to these sites and read the truth. Idiots will keep being idiots.

It reminds me of a great Winston Churchill quote:

"Any man who is under 30, and is not a liberal, has no heart; and any man who is over 30, and is not a conservative, has no brains."

That’s sums it up really nicely

  63. Mr. Amman,

You seen to have a difficult time, ostensibly because of an Ahab-like contempt for the woman, accepting that Palin possesses both intellect and political acumen far greater than you are willing to acknowledge.

Both Henry Kissinger and Bill Clinton have had an opportunity you are not likely to receive: they have sat down with her and both came away impressed with her ability as a quick study and political instincts. If you had bothered to read a lengthy piece in "Time", I believe, published a week or so ago, you would have discovered the shocking fact that some in Obama’s camp even believed her to be the equal of Obama, if not in rhetoric, in the similar ability to connect with the public in a vernacular just as appealing and just as charismatic in tone.

She may or may not be so gifted. Perhaps Kissenger and Clinton were simply having a high-testosterone day. That is debatable. What is unambiguous is your disturbing call for hatred.

Once during a recess at a trial, a judge asked a young prosecutor
if he really wanted to put on the stand a witness who clearly was consumed by hate for my client.

"Absolutely," the kid said. "He’s my strongest witness."

"Then you’re in the tall grass, son," the judge said.

"With all due respect, your honor, I don’t follow you," the ADA said.

"I wouldn’t expect you to," the judge said. "Here’s the long and the short of it. People have a native distrust of people who consider hatred a virtue and those misguided people who stoke its fires. They see it as weakness. ’Hatred is the madness of the heart’. That’s
Lord Byron.Six words and he nailed it. "

My hope for you is that some day with having experienced more of life you’ll recall this opinion piece with a a measure of regret and have discovered the wisdom of the judge’s counsel without having had to pay a painful for price for doing so,

hahaha...your conservatives are so stupid...its rather obvious you all fell out of the stupid tree and hit every single branch on the way down. McCain and Palin were CRUSHED under the foot of a society who doesnt want to take the status quota anymore.

Again, no facts, no logic, no substance, other than hate.

The fact is they were NOT crushed. They were simply beat. Obama got basically the same amount Bush did in 2004.

You can blame that on McCain. He’s not really a Republican, he’s just a democrat who is confused!

Real conservatives have wanted him to go away for years. In fact, he was about to be actually crushed, until he picked Governor Palin. She was good for at least 15 points.

In fact, most conservatives were gonna just stay home. Then Sarah gave one of the most stirring speeches ever, at the RNC.

The next morning, local GOP offices around the country, that were having trouble finding help, were flooded with volunteers.

She set a 3 day fund raising record after her speech.

As far as the birth certificate issue, who knows.

I can tell you that there are four cases at SCOTUS, currently, and several more making their way there.

Obama spent almost $1 million dollars making sure no one can see his actual BC.

Doesn’t make a lot of sense for someone who could have just paid $10, and stopped this nonsense in 2007, when Phillip Berg, a DEMOCRAT, and Hillary supporter filed the lawsuit.

In fact, his lawsuit was in conference at SCOTUS not only last Friday, but the Friday before as well. We await the outcome.

Lightfoot v Bowen goes to conference on this Friday.

Conference means before all 9 justices.

Keyes v Bowen and Broe v Reed is heading to SCOTUS.

No telling what will happen, but there are a dozen lawsuits out there, including Brockhausen v. Andrade. which is fascinating. It goes to trial tomorrow, in Williamson County, Texas.

Again, I don\’t know what the deal is about the BC. I have been following this though, because it is very interesting.

All I know for sure, is Obama spent almost a million dollars fighting these cases, when for 10 bucks would have ended it all back in 2007!

Tell me how that makes any sense.

  68. I think the thing that scares the beJesus out of libs is the obvious:
Obama began prepping for a White House run at least five years ago.
EVERY move has been calibrated to dispose of the political opponents such as Jack Ryan and Blair Hull who could have put a quick end to his presidential aspirations. In effect, his acceptance speech and his speeches on the stump had been tweaked since the
    2004 DNC.

Palin, had a few weeks to prepare for the big room and accomplished in a few weeks what it took Obama four years to achieve: the status of a world-reknown American politician with legions of devoted followers.

Liberals who inconceivably believe she has had her 15 minutes of fame clearly no nothing about the history of presidential politics.

When Nixon lost to incumbent Pat Brown in a 1962 run for California’s governor, his political enemies put a toe-tag on him and considered him a has-been who never was. Nixon, however, put the time to good use, became more media savvy, more fully understood the power of television to affect the outcome of an election, and courted foreign leaders and dignitories to expandhis knowledge of world affairs. His notorious concessions speech to Brown--"You won’t have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore." was considered the nail in his political coffin--petty, vindictative, and suggestive of tremendous insecurity.

Four years later he trounced Rockefeller and Reagan in the primaries and defeated Hubert Humphrey by more than a hundred votes for the presidency.

Dismiss Palin if it gives you some sort of political orgasm. Obama better hit the ball out of the park because if he stumbles Palin will be on his heels. And unl;ess she makes a catastrophically bad move as governor, she’s going to come back far better informed on domestic and foreign affairs less susceptible to the media’s poison pen.

Most importantly, she now understands the blood-lust that is vetting:
it was reported that 1,000 investigators and attorneys descended on
Anchora when she signed on with McCain and what did they come away with. Nothing. Nada. Zip--except for Bristol’s pregnancy, a minor squat about the "Bridge to Nowhere", and two state investigations that didn’t even produce censure.

Obama’s ascendency to the White House was fundamentally because he was "the other guy". Now he is the other guy and while American’s are still popping champagne corks they would be well advised to take heed from Shakespeare’s caution about such shotgun weddings:

These violent delights have violent endings
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
    Which, as they kiss, consume.

  71. So, ignoring the fact that almost everyone here has taken an extreme stance on the issue (let a libertarian do the talking), lets just look at the article itself:
    1. The Title: Hatred?
Hate is a word I would expect from a 5 year old, one who lacks the vocabulary to make a less blatantly biased point.
    2. The ridicule:
Palin, like it or not, is more qualified at her job than anyone here. If not she wouldn’t have been able to rise in the government. Hyperbolized arguments only gloss over the fact that there isn’t much of a point.
    3. The Sheer Idiocy:
Are there any established arguments in the article? I don’t think anyone from either party wants to hear what is being said, either as an assault or as a representation of their party.
    4. Michael Amann:
From your unproffesional appearance to your tastless and poorly constructed "article," you are more unqualified for your job than the woman you have just needlessly verbally assaulted. The only consolation anyone has when they read this article is the hope that Palin herself read it, and had a good laugh at your single digit I.Q.

  75. A thought about you libs and your clear hatred for anyone who thinks differently than you. Tolerance and free thinking is what you allegedly advocate, yet you try to squash it whenever you hear opposition to your socialist agenda. (Yes, it is socialist when you only rely on government and government spending to get thru every crisis! Government is not the answer - it is the problem!) Your distain for conservatives is clear and obvious - because you can’t win on a field of open ideas. Your ideas all have proven to be failures, and you have no new ones. Sad. (Show me one socialist country that is thriving! One! They all require Uncle Sam’s generousity to survive!)

Here’s one other proof of your failure - Air America! Failed because people could not stand to listen to your mean-spirited leftist hate-mongers - so Franken, Rhodes, and Co. were turned off and went out of business.
Conservative talk radio is thriving! Why? Free flowing ideas and the truth is spoken. And your own hero’s words are shown to be false, biased, and inflamatory!

Conservatives need to be as positive as Liberals are negative. The left ridicules those they are afraid of.

We have, in Sarah Palin, an inteligent, principled, down-to-earth, attractive woman who talks TO you - not down at you. Absolutely awesome! The left can’t take it because all your heros preach and talk down to you, telling you how to live, what to believe, and then, THEY do the opposite or whatever they want, themselves. So you have hypocrites for heros! Must be depressing.

It’s too bad you don’t have the courage to step out and think on your own, take responsibility, and be individuals.
You’re slaves to your own faulty ideology!

However, for the sake of our nation, I hope that he does do a good job as president and turns America around.
