'One University, One Cause: A Buckeye Benefit Dinner for Haiti' - Monday, Feb. 1
Undergraduate Student Government and the Office of Student Life sponsor a pasta dinner from 5-8p.m at the RPAC's Tom W. Davis gym. Takeout meals are available. Tickets are $10 at the door and all the proceeds go to the American Red Cross. Donations can also be made online at http://ohiounion.osu.edu/haiti/.
All-Night Haiti Fundraiser - Thursday, Feb. 4
Ruby Tuesday, at 1978 Summit St., hosts live music, standup comedy, an art auction, a Wii Bowling Tournament and a photo booth from 5:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Admission is $10 and all tips go to the cause.
Buckeyes for Haitian Solace Auction - Monday, Feb. 15
Co-sponsored by the College of Social Work, the bidding is held online at www.FeedYourPigBlog.com - the proceeds to go Partners in Health. Local businesses may contact Janna Johnson (jannajanna@hotmail.com) to participate. The College is also spearheading a major Haiti relief fundraiser and directing donations to The Red Cross, Americares and The Clinton Foundation.
OSU's love for Haiti
College of Pharmacy graduate students, in conjunction with the Inter-Professional Council and other professional schools, are directing 100 percent of their donations to the Columbus Red Cross. Toiletries and other supplies can also be donated at the Hale Center. Specific donations are also being collected for one doctoral student who is a native to Haiti and has family there.
Buckeyes for Haiti
A student group created a fundraising site, www.buckeyesforhaiti.com, in cooperation with Oxfam's efforts to provide water and sanitation supplies throughout Haiti.
Greek organizations
As cited by OSU University Relations, Iota Phi Theta is collecting donations at the Hale Center to aid LifeLine. Society of Sisters is also at the Center, providing laptops for those wishing to make donations online. AKA Sorority Inc, Theta Chapter and Band of Brothers are collecting donations, Delta Psi Phi is working to collect donations, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. is collecting donations to send to the Red Cross.
Health kits
The Jerome Schottenstein Center staff, along with RPAC-Student Groups, Brutus and cheerleaders, coaches and coaches wives, The Blackwell Inn, The Fawcett Center, and the Drake Performance and Event Center are assembling kits to send to Haiti. Kits will contain a hand towel, washcloth, comb, nail file or fingernail clippers, soap, toothbrush and adhesive plastic sterile bandages.
Sporting events
The athletic department is working with the Red Cross to have collections at the entrance of upcoming hockey and basketball games.
The American Red Cross
Donations are accepted by phone (1-800-HELP NOW) or online at www.redcross.org. Texting "Haiti" to 90999 will send a $10 donation to the Red Cross.
