Untitled Document Firoozeh Dumas

The Columbus Museum of Art and Thurber House will present an evening with Firoozeh Dumas on Wednesday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the museum. Dumas is the winner of the 2005 Thurber Prize for American Humor finalist for her book “Funny in Farsi.” Dumas will read from her new memoir, “Laughing Without an Accent: Adventures of an Iranian American, at Home and Abroad.” Tickets are $22 for the reading and $40 for the reading and a cocktail reception with Dumas. Discounts are available for students.

Russ Nagle

Billed as “America’s Funniest Biker,” Russ Nagle will take the stage at the Funny Bone Comedy Club this Wednesday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m. Nagle’s act touches on a variety of topics besides bikers, covering family, marriage, current events, and the other typical standup arsenal. Tickets for the show are $10.

Third Thursday

Similar to the area’s Gallery Hop, the Short North will host its monthly “Third Thursday” on Thursday, May 15. Many of the community’s art galleries and shops will stay open until at least 9 p.m. to welcome patrons. For more information, check out shortnorth.org.

2008 Ohio Wheelchair Games

The Ohio Wheelchair Games will take place this week at the RPAC, from May 15-17. The games feature an array of events, including archery, air guns, track, swimming, weightlifting, bowling, table tennis, bocce ball, and billiards. Yo-Yo Ma

In one of the last performances by the Columbus Symphony this season, the orchestra will collaborate with famed cellist Yo-Yo Ma this Thursday, May 15, at 8 p.m. at the Ohio Theatre. Since the CSO announced it does not have the funds to put on its Picnic with the Pops series this year, this will be one of the final performances the CSO has for the season.

Race for the Cure

The 16th annual Komen Columbus Race for the Cure will take place downtown this Saturday. The 5K race starts at 8:30 a.m. and takes places through downtown Columbus, ending at the Ohio Statehouse. Those who still wish to register in the 5K (as a runner or a walker) can no longer do so online, and must either do so on Wednesday and Thursday at the Easton Town Center’s Macy’s, or Friday (and Saturday before the race) at the Columbus City Center. Bellobration

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey present Bellobration this Thursday through Saturday at Nationwide Arena. The event is named for the show’s lead character, Bello Nock, a mischievous yet endearing comic daredevil recognized by his tall orange hair and oversized tuxedo. Bello performs alongside majestic Asian elephants, Royal Bengal and exotic white tigers, and gravity-defying acrobats. Tickets range from $10-$65.
