The Lost Blogs: A look at the inner minds of prominent figures

By Corey Spring

Imagine if you will that Abe Lincoln, Marilyn Monroe, Ghandi, and Jesus Christ all kept blogs on the internet. Such is the premise of Paul Davidson’s new book: “The Lost Blogs: From Jesus to Jim Morrison --The Historically Inaccurate and Totally Fictitious Cyber Diaries of Everyone Worth Knowing.” And who better to review it than me, U Weekly’s resident blogger.

The book is a light-hearted look at the inner minds of prominent figures throughout history. Of course, you immediately have to ignore the fact that the internet is a fairly recent invention, and Joan of Arc, Eva Braun, and Marie Antoinette did not have computers, let alone the internet. Of course, even if you could ignore that, you should probably also wonder why you are reading a blog in a printed book, something that seems completely counterintuitive, but I digress.

Paul Davidson channels the mind of authors, sports figures, and politicians alike. Readers of Paul Davidson’s book will also hear the griping of Marilyn Monroe about her new boyfriend, ‘J’, the ‘real’ story behind Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Raven” (really just an annoying bird whose repetitive tapping gave the author writer’s block), and details of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s water/wine rack.

While most blogs on the internet are authored by thirteen-year old emo Myspace addicts and not worth the HTML they are printed on, it is always nice to read the musings of prominent bloggers such as John Battelle, Mike Davidson, or, you know, me. Paul Davidson simply takes the concept of a blogger becoming noteworthy and reversing it, making noteworthy people throughout history bloggers – and the concept works better and is more entertaining then you would immediately expect.
